Meet the Principal: Lisa Kattenhorn, Principal of Harris Academy Tottenham
"I was drawn into teaching by a love of learning and the understanding of how important education is in enabling people to realise their dreams."
I have worked for the Harris Federation for ten years, at Harris Academy South Norwood, Chobham Academy and, most recently, at Harris Academy Tottenham, and my experience has been completely different to any other place I have worked. There is an unrelenting focus on achieving the best outcomes for students, and, with a strong network of support across the Federation, there are excellent opportunities for development and progression. The ethos and vision is inspiring: to give every child in London the best possible education, enabling them to fulfil their potential and decide their own future.
The motto of Harris Academy Tottenham is Endeavour, Enjoy and Excel. We have a no excuses culture, but we know and understand all of our students, their talents and their capabilities. When it comes to our staff, we value our team and look to develop their skills through excellent CPD to cultivate excellent teaching and learning. We expect our teachers and support colleagues to be as aspirational about their practice as we are about ensuring students leave with the best possible outcomes.
My top three qualities when looking for a teacher:
“I look for teachers who can demonstrate commitment, resilience and the ability to work well within a team.”
