Meet the Principal: Aliki Constantopoulou, Principal of Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace
"I wanted to become a teacher for as long as I can remember, inspired by fantastic teachers in my primary and secondary schools and by my mum – a wonderful primary teacher and role model for me."
The hardest decision was whether to specialise in Primary or Secondary, but when making that decision aged 18, the thought of teaching children close to my age was terrifying!
I have been the Principal at Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace since 2010, and I have seen many benefits of working within the Harris Federation since we joined in 2013. The support is excellent, with a team of experts to help with any issues or development needs, the training opportunities are high quality and it is a great feeling to belong to such a strong organisation. Harris undoubtedly has the very highest of expectations for all its staff and pupils – which can only be a good thing.
I see Harris as the top choice for a teaching role because of the wealth of opportunities to grow within the Federation. You are supported and trained well, and if you are good at your job, the career progression is second to none.
Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace is a friendly and welcoming place – our staff love working here and we have a very low level of staff turnover. Everyone who visits says our academy has a real buzz about it, and because our pupils feel happy and safe, they thrive. If you’re thinking of applying for a role with us, come for a visit and see for yourself!
My top three qualities when looking for a teacher:
“Dedication, high expectations and willingness to go the extra mile.”
