Background

Michael has taught maths for twenty-two years and managed maths teams at 4 different schools for a total of twelve years. He has led an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Consortium through an Outstanding Ofsted inspection for Maths, as well as spending three  years in a school with challenging social circumstances, leading Community Engagement Initiatives and Extended School Services.  Michael has also  been a member of a Senior Leadership Team, rapidly turning around a large “failing” school, and has gained the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

Role with Harris Federation

Michael now supports staff and students with maths teaching and learning in a wide range of outstanding Harris Academies. He also helps new maths Curriculum Leaders develop into their roles and achieve high levels of progress for all their students.

It’s all about the group….developing as individuals but more importantly as a team.

Key achievements

Being part of an  outstanding teaching team has enabled Michael  to identify and improve areas which need developing in lesson-planning and problem-solving, whilst ensuring that students reach their Maths GCSE potential, across the Academies.

Michael enjoys  delivering interesting and interactive mathematics training for the Harris Federation Maths Hub.
