Background

Godfrey began teaching at Ashmole Academy in North London as an NQT. He moved through the ranks and became an Advanced Skills teacher where he was responsible for improving teaching and learning across the school, as well as taking charge of KS4 Maths. After this, he applied to be a Consultant within the Harris Federation and has enjoyed the role since starting in 2013.

Role within Harris Federation

In his current role, Godfrey works across several academies in conjunction with School Leadership Teams (SLT) and subject Coordinators, to improve teaching and learning and student outcomes within the Mathematics department. He has also been working with the central team to develop schemes of work and lessons for the new KS3 Maths curriculum.

Key achievements

Godfrey has successfully mentored NQTs and Teach First students across the Federation in Maths, and seen them develop into key stage managers, improving their own teaching and passing on their training to other members of their department. Godfrey is also a National Centre for the Excellence of Teaching Mathematics (NCETM) Professional Development Accredited Lead for both Secondary and A level Mathematics. He is also an SLE.

Harris facilitator

Godfrey delivers training sessions to Initial Teacher Education (ITE) students, NQTs and experienced staff members. These sessions range from subject-specific courses, to generic teacher training.
