Terrie Askew

Principal, NPQH Programme Leader & NPQH Facilitator

Background

Before moving to Harris Academy Falconwood, Terrie was the Head of Academy at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace, the flagship Academy for the Harris Federation. She has worked in schools with diverse and challenging circumstances and has experience of leading transformation in these difficult situations.

Role within Harris Federation

Terrie is the Principal at Harris Academy Falconwood. In 2008 the Academy replaced an underperforming school where only 17% of the students achieved five A*–C GCSE grades including English and maths. After one year these results rose to 42% and the next year to 60%. In 2011 the Academy was judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Key Achievements

Between 2009 and 2011, while still working to raise standards at the Academy, Terrie managed a £25 million building programme. Harris Academy Falconwood now has an amazing state-of-the-art building.  In November 2014 the Academy received its second consecutive ‘outstanding’ judgement from Ofsted.

Harris Facilitator

Terrie has mentored numerous senior leaders who have been successful in gaining posts as deputies, headteachers and principals. She is one of the programme leaders for the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) programme and facilitates the 'Strategy & Change for Improvement' module.
