SLE for Pupil Achievement- PE

Background

With a first-class degree in BA Physical Education, Gary became a qualified teacher in 2004 at the University of Greenwich. He started began his teaching career at the Chafford Hundred campus and was part of the conversion to Harris Academy Chafford Hundred. Promoted to Achievement Director of Social skills, Gary achieved 100% pass rates in GCSE Leisure and Tourism, CoPE, BTEC Travel and Tourism Level 2 and CoPE Level 2.

Role within the Harris Federation 

Now the Assistant Achievement Director of PE, Gary supported the department to become outstanding with 100% pass rates in 2010 and 2011 and is still one of the highest performing departments in the Academy. 

Key Achievements

In 2015, Gary helped Harris Academy Greenwich raise their GCSE PE grades up to 87% as well as improving their Teaching and Learning averages. He has led voluntary training sessions on questioning, features of an outstanding lesson and how to get the most out of practical subjects. Gary has also led workshops at the annual Harris Federation Teaching & Learning Conference for other PE specialists on how to make PE and Dance outstanding.
