Designated Safeguarding Leaders Training

This one-day training course provides an in-depth overview of what Designated Safeguarding Leaders (DSLs) need to know and do to perform effectively in the role.

The course will cover:

  • Legislation, guidance
  • Keeping Children Safe in Education 2016
  • Role of the designated safeguarding lead
  • Thresholds of child protection and Child in Need
  • Referral Pathways
  • Early Help
  • Child Protection policy, procedures and pro-formas
  • Working with LAC, CP Plan, Child in need
  • Child protection meetings-Case Conferences,
    Core group, multi-agency meetings
  • Female Genital Mutilation, Forced Marriage, Prevent
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Child Sexual Exploitation/Gangs. Children Missing Education
  • Local Safeguarding Children Board
  • Serious case reviews
  • LADO
  • Confidentiality
  • Information sharing

The course must be completed in addition to LA training not as an alternative unless LA states otherwise.
