Paediatric First Aid

This two-day paediatric first aid course has been developed using the guidelines and criteria as specified by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted.

The course is split into two units.

  1. Emergency Paediatric First Aid
  2. Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries and Emergencies

The key focuses of the training are:

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Infantile convulsions
  • Eye injuries
  • Sickle cell anaemia
  • Resuscitation
  • Head injury
  • Diabetes
  • Foreign bodies
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Heat and cold
  • Fainting
  • Choking
  • Fractures
  • Meningitis
  • Burns
  • Asthma

Assessment

Participants will be required to take a multiple-choice test at the end of the session. The instructor will also judge participants on their practical skills and knowledge throughout the days.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.
